       The blue and white hand-printed cotton is Chinese traditional handicraft with a long history originated in Jiangsu Province. It is an old art form and its elaborate dyeing and printing process is inherited from generation to generation. Its design expresses simple elegance while with thousands of classic and exquisite patterns. The cloth is wholly hand-made by using 100% cotton, natural indigo dye through long and unique process.

       Nantong is the hometown of blue calico and blue calico is also a name card of Nantong city. China Nantong Blue Calico Art Gallery was found by Mr. Wu Yuanxin, a Chinese Industrial Arts Master in 1997. It is a first Chinese Blue Calico art gallery integrating collecting, exhibiting, studying, producing and marketing of Blue Calico. Supported by Nantong Municipal Government, the Gallery is now also a famous tourism spot in Nantong city. Blue Calico Dyeing Process submitted by the gallery is listed as National Intangible Cultural Heritage by Chinese goverment. 

         Inheriting and keeping old process and arts, the gallery make many efforts in developing. Quite a few designs are won Gold Prize nationally and are collected by National Museum. Under the efforts of Mr. Wu and his colleague, now the extraordinary craft and the ancient art form are sustained and developed. Business and Culture are integrated in a perfect way.

         Nantong blue calico has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years among both Chinese and foreigners.  While it has a very "Chinese" and traditional folk look, it looks natural in modern clothing styles in a way that many other folk fabrics do not.  Nantong calico comes in a range of different patterns which make it well suited to a wide array of different uses.  The largest and most complicated patterns, incorporating pictures and large designs make beautiful and distinctive wall hangings. These large designs often use traditional folk motifs meant to evoke wishes for health and happiness.  More restrained, simple patterns make interesting yet elegant clothing, such as skirts or light jackets. Blue calico also makes charming purses, handbags, and wallets.
